Rafting on the Dunajec river
The Dunajec Gorge is among the greatest tourist attractions in South of Poland. The Dunajec river, which cuts through the Pieniny Mountains, flows in wide curves within a deep ravine whose rock walls are up to 300 metres high. This is an amazing picturesque place with beautiful views visible from the raft. Dunajec rafting trip start from the landing stage at Katy /Sromowce Wyzne/. The 18-kilometre route /the elevation difference is 36 m/ takes two to three hours depending on the water level. It is also possible to go further downriver to Kroscienko 23 km. Trips organized of rafts are from April 1 to October 31. Many interesting rock forms – sheer walls, needles and crags – are encountered on the way. The river makes seven sharp turns and forms three loops, all within a distance of 2.5 kilometres as the bird flies. During the trip, rafters entertain tourists with tales about the history and traditions of the region.
